Ebb and Flow

Four days in and I'm starting to feel it.

At first it just felt like a three day weekend, especially in regards to staying up late and sleeping in. By the time I got to the gym however I started to feel the difference. The constant nagging in the back of my mind, reminding me that I had to check my work e-mail or that I had a long to-do list to get to when the weekend ended wasn't there.

I was running on the treadmill thinking to myself "This is it. All I have to worry about now is the channel. No other distractions."

It was a fantastic feeling.

My own to-do list of channel work has been a bit of an ebb and flow. It's only been four days, but so far I've found myself behind on the list as well as ahead. I suppose as long as the two videos are made every week it doesn't matter how the flow of the work is.

My biggest problem was that I was hit really hard with writer's block over the weekend. I had gotten so used to writing my scripts and researching while I was at my day job, that I had to really force myself to do it at home. On top of that, I just couldn't think of a topic I had wanted to cover this week.

So I fell behind on my To-Do list, but after banging my head against the wall for a few days I finally fell across an interesting topic. After that, the extra time allowed me to record a couple of videos at once and get a head start on editing, which pushed me back ahead of schedule.

In any case, what felt so good is that even as I was pacing around my office trying to come up with a topic, realizing that I was already falling behind my own schedule, I was having fun.

I'm obviously still in the honeymoon period, but boy am I glad I made this decision.
